It also consists of a campfire program.Scoutmasters and Senior Patrol Leaders can sign-up for outposts with the Scoutcraft Director during the Sunday Evening Merit Badge and Program Sign-Up.

Pioneering Projects

Every Scout has the urge to build something with his own hands, see a design take form before his eyes, and see a finished product that is, in effect, a monument to his own ability. The Scoutcraft Director can supply your unit with several ideas on projects. Allow at least two activity periods and pick a project keeping in mind your boypower limitations. Before attempting a project, a class in knots and lashings may prove useful.

Orienteering Courses

Refine your map and compass skills on our new Orienteering course. Thanks to the generosity of Troops 17 and 79, Queens we have a new, professional 1.5 mile orienteering course. This course will meet the first class orienteering requirement and is open to all scouts, troops and patrols. For more information see the Scoucraft Director

Red Dot Trail & Hiking Opportunities

This well-marked trail encircles the entire Ten Mile River reservation. If your unit needs help in planning a hike, be it for an afternoon or overnight, the Scoutcraft Staff offers guidance on hike routes, lean-to sites, water sources and points of interest.

Skills Instruction

The requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class ranks may be worked on simultaneously; however, these ranks must be earned in sequence. At 3:00 and 4:00 p.m., the Scoutcraft Staff will provide instruction to Scouts who are interested in working on the requirements for Tenderfoot, Second Class and First Class. For more detailed information and the schedule of specific skills being taught each day, see the New Camper Program First Class Emphasis Schedule
