Delaware Canoeing & Kayaking

Can you imagine yourself canoeing the beautiful Delaware River under a clear blue sky, and passing historical sites such as the Roebling Bridge, the Minisink Battleground, and Zane Grey’s house? Then sign up for this memorable experience.

The Canoe Outpost Staff will help your Scouts have a memorable and safe canoe trip this summer. The trip is a day trip for Scouts who have good swimming skills, have a current swimmer’s buddy tag, are in good health, and successfully complete the camp’s canoeing proficiency test. You may plan your Troop’s participation at the Sunday Night Roundtable. NB: Scouts attending will miss most merit badge classes on the day of participation. They are encouraged to inform their counselors of this early-on in the week to allow optimum time to make up missed work.

Reservations must be confirmed by a full payment on Sunday, or on Monday morning. You must bring your receipt with you as evidence of payment.

Waterskiing

Scouts across the Reservation are encouraged to try their ability at waterskiing. The largest on the property, Crystal Lake is home to Camps Keowa and Kernochan and is the base of the TMR Waterskiing Outpost Program.

In addition to recreational skiing, opportunities are also available for Scouts to earn the Waterskiing Merit Badge. Scouts and Leaders interested in working on this badge should see their Program Director on Sunday to begin making the necessary program and transportation arrangements.

War Canoes

When you load your patrol or even your entire troop into the War Canoes, all other boats should stand back - because boy can they get going. These oversized canoes can each hold 16 Scouts and are virtually impossible to capsize. The War Canoe Outpost makes for a great afternoon or evening activity for your entire unit that they will remember for a while to come.
