Training Opportunities
Camping-related training courses are available at each
TMR camp throughout the summer season. Information on each of the courses
offered is provided below.
Individual Camp Training Pages
Some of the individual TMR Camps have developed Training Pages with full
details on their training courses, dates, times, locations, etc.
Youth Protection Guidelines
Training on Youth Protection Guidelines (YPG) will be provided weekly
in each TMR camp. This condensed training is required every two years
for all unit leaders. See your camp's Program Director to find out when
courses are being given in your camp.
Additionally, the National BSA Office has made YPG training available
online for registered scouters. Upon successful completion of the online
course, a certificate, card and letter will be printed out automatically.
If you are interested in taking the online course, begin by selecting
your council below.
New Leader Essentials
To become a trained adult leader in the BSA, one must successfully complete
three training courses in sequence: 1) New Leader Essentials (NLE), 2)
Leader-Specific-Training and 3) Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills.
NLE Training, the first step in the process, is offered each week at Camp
Aquehonga on Monday evenings. This course is open to leaders
from all camps across the reservation. For full details, visit the Camp
Aquehonga Leader Training page.
Training To Support Year-Round
Unit Programming
It is our goal to provide training in each camp that will support your
unit's year-round camping program. The following training courses will
be offered in each individual camp during your stay. We strongly recommend
that one leader from each unit attend. The location and timing of each
course varies however from camp to camp. To find out when training takes
place in your camp, contact the Program Area Director (indicated below),
your Program Director or see your individual
camp's training page.

Guide to Safe Scouting
The purpose of the Guide to Safe Scouting is to prepare adult leaders to conduct Scouting activities in a safe and prudent manner. The policies and guidelines have been established because of the real need to protect members from known hazards that have been identified through 90-plus years of experience. Click here to view the Guide to Safe Scouting page on the National BSA Website.
