Thunderbird Theater Our camp totem, the Thunderbird, was always seen as a symbol of joy, awe, and spirit in the times of the Native American. Supposedly, the mythical bird was enormous, and its diet consisted mostly of Killer Whales. When a Native American saw a thunderbird, it was prophetic of a large rainstorm. As you may know, rain was a very good thing in those times, as it was essential in the growth of their crops. Although the times have changed, the Spirit of the Thunderbird has not. Camp Keowa is extremely lucky to have a place such as Thunderbird Theater. The theater sits the entire camp comfortably, and is the home to the greatest campfires around- Keowa style. Spend a few hours in the firelight of our theater, and you'll realize why Keowa is the MOST SPIRITED.
