Located atop the hill at the entrance to Camp Aquehonga, this cabin
represents a piece of TMR history, and is a favorite of many units.
Originally, it was the annex to a nearby cabin, the Barta House, which
has been removed from the property. At present, this building known
as all of the following: the Barta House Annex, the Barta House, and the
Traubner House, continues to provide an excellent location for
weekend camping trips throughout the year. Many units also use the
Traubner/Barta House as a place to stay while visiting one of the local
ski mountains in the winter.
As a full-service cabin, it is complete with 20 bunks in one large bunk
room and a full bathroom. The cabin also features a full kitchen,
complete with a refrigerator and dining area. For large groups, there is
more than enough space in center of the main room to set-up folding
tables and chairs (all provided) for dining. The cabin is fully heated by
way of a forced air heating system, and also features a traditional
fireplace. Electricity and electric lighting is available at no extra cost. It
is the perfect location for everything from a full troop camping trip to
Junior Leader "specialty" trip. Also among the cabin's many attractive
features is its isolation from other short-term camping facilities on the
property. In addition, it is just a short walk away from picturesque Half
Moon Lake, which provides some great views and fishing opportunities.
