Aquehonga: Key Staff
The Camp Aquehonga Leadership Team is very excited about the Camp Aquehonga Season. It is our goal to continue on the strong foundation built in previous years. We have again assembled the finest staff around – Scouts and Scouters committed to providing a quality experience.

|Jim Pfeiffer, Camp Director
Jim Pfeiffer joined Troop 261 in Queens, New York at the age of 11.
He camped in Kernochan and Lakeside as a scout, earned his Eagle rank in 1965
and joined the TMR staff as a CIT that same year. In 1967 he joined the
Aquehonga Aquatics staff, became a Rondack commissioner in 1968, and then
went back to the new Aquehonga as a commissioner in 1969. In 1970, he
worked at TMR Headquarters as the assistant director of reservation-wide
program. In 1971 he became the program Director at Sanita Hills Scout Camp
and then directed that camp in 1972 and 1973.
He returned to TMR in 2012 as a volunteer program coordinator for Keowa’s
Aviation Specialty camp for four seasons. Jim jointed the TMR staff again in 2015
becoming the logistics coordinator for the Trek Program.
Jim holds a Master’s Degree in English from Long Island University in Brooklyn,
New York. He has taught English at Archbishop Molloy High School in Queens
and at Alvirne High School in New Hampshire, where he now lives.
In New Hampshire, he served on the Executive Board of the Daniel Webster
Council as the Vice President of Program as well as Exploring Chairman.
For 20 years, including the just completed 2016 election cycle, Jim worked in
New England as a freelance videographer for broadcast and cable news
organizations. In addition, over the years, he has taught broadcast television
production and media writing to both high school and college students.
|Anthony Zalak, Assistant Camp Director for Program
Anthony Zalak has been a staff member at Ten Mile River for more than 15 years. He spent many years in Camp Aquahonga and will be suppoting their program and leadership relations in 2017. He is also a member of the Council Camping Committee.
