Aquehonga is known for being a premier Patrol Cooking Camp in the Northeast. Scouts here get to cook, cleanup, and become self-sufficient while cooking their own meals in camp, all supervised and controlled by our Commissary Staff and their own Troop Leadership. Scouts are provided all equipment (stove, pots, pans, utensils, etc.), portioned ingredients, and a step-by-step guide on how to prepare the meal. Patrol cooking allows for more troop development time and a more customizable meal.

According to Baden Powell, “The more responsibility the Scoutmaster gives his patrol leaders, the more they will respond.”

“AQ” is so much more than just a patrol cooking camp, with a state of the art STEM center where instruction is given in Robotics, Communication, Programming, Digital Technology and more! We also feature a large in-ground pool with a twisty waterslide and fantastic instructor staff. Aquehonga sits on the edge of Half-Moon Lake where Scouts canoe, kayak, row and sail. The camp features a top of the line Scoutcraft area with permanent pioneering structures for Scouts to climb and play on while learning their knots. We have a comprehensive COPE course to include a 35ft. wall, Zip Line, and many challenging low and high elements. Some other program highlights include a Nature Center, First Year Camper program, and Mountain Biking Center.

Newly renovated program areas:

  • 2023 – ScoutCraft
  • 2022 – Field and Shooting Sports
  • 2021 – Nature Center & Trails
